I have had the privilege of working with middle school students as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, or principal since 1987. This is now my fourteenth year as middle school principal.

My oldest son has teased me in the past by telling me that I am in middle school forever. He is correct and I can honestly say this is by choice because I enjoy every day I spend with middle school students!

My wife and I are blessed with two teenage boys. One is a high school senior and the other is a high school sophomore. Like many of you, their activities keep us very busy.

I am focused on helping our students learn how to develop strong character. I believe that a person of character is trustworthy, treats people with respect, is responsible, is fair, is caring, and is a good citizen.

I share a character based comment with our students and staff each morning. When the AMS South faculty and students begin the day with this in mind, we set ourselves up for success. If you get a chance each evening, ask your child about the character counts comment for the day. I hope it sparks an interesting conversation.
